About the Artist

My name is Cynthia Cummings-Birch and I’m a potter, living and working in the Upper Valley of Vermont. The work I create, which is inspired by the natural world, is very unique and no two pieces alike. Each piece is either wheel thrown or hand built, and a relief is carved on the surface. The work is both sculptural and functional, and all the glazes I use are inspired by nature and created in my studio.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Plymouth State University and have spent many years teaching art to children and adults, in both public schools, summer arts programs, and advanced workshops. I am a juried member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen and the North East Kingdom Artisan Guild of Vermont. You can find my work in the League Galleries in Meredith, Littleton and Center Sandwich, New Hampshire, the NEKAG gallery in St. Johnsbury, Vt., and in my studio, which is located in Fairlee, Vermont.
